Images

In order to make the content more accessible, it is necessary to provide alternative text for images used in the PowerPoint presentation.

To add alternative text from within PowerPoint

  1. Select the image.
  2. Perform right mouse button click (or Format on menu bar).
  3. Choose Format Picture.
  4. Select the Web tab.
  5. Enter alternative text description.

To add alternative text using the PowerPoint Wizard

  1. Begin the Accessibility Wizard.
  2. When an image is detected, identify if the image is "Decorative" or "Informative".
  3. If the image is "Decorative", you will be prompted to enter a Short Description (i.e., alternative text).
  4. If the image is "Informative", you will be prompted to enter a Short Description as well as a Long Description identifying the components or purpose of the image on the slide.
