About the HTCTU


Training Information

Free Participation
Our trainings are designed to support faculty and staff who assist students with disabilities. Priority registration is given to employees of the California Community College system. Colleagues from other institutions are welcome to participate on a space-available basis.

The HTCTU will reimburse the travel of non DSPS staff members who attend our trainings as long as their attendance will benefit students with disabilities and they are sponsored by the DSPS Director at their campus. Please keep in mind that we only reimburse one DSPS member and one non DSPS member per campus per training. Please contact us for more information at

Times and Breaks
Trainings at the HTCTU may consist of one, two, or three days of instruction and hands-on activities. Trainings at the HTCTU generally begin at 10:00 AM and conclude by 4:30 PM. Two or three-day trainings may begin the second and third day session at 9:00AM. It is best to check with the instructor regarding the time of the training for the second and/or third session. Training sessions take lunch break from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM. Afternoon breaks are at 2:30-2:45pm.

The HTCTU is located on the corner of McClellan and Stelling. We are Not located on the De Anza College campus. We are approximately a 20 minute drive from San Jose International Airport and a 45 minute drive from San Francisco International Airport.

Off-site Trainings
The HTCTU may offer trainings at off-site locations and sponsor training specialists from the field to deliver workshops throughout the state. Please review our schedule for the listing and find the time and location.

Participants that are new to our trainings, please create a new account using our online training registration system. If you have an account and have registered for trainings in the past, login with your associated e-mail and password.

The HTCTU offers training sessions in the areas of Alternate Media, Access Technology and Web Accessibility. Our trainings run year-round on a quarterly system. For more information please visit our training schedule.

Participants who are employed by the California community college system and attend trainings conducted at the HTCTU are eligible to receive travel and lodging reimbursement. For more information please review our reimbursement information.

Special Hotel Rates
The HTCTU has negotiated rates at Maple Tree Inn and Cupertino Inn. Please make sure reservations are made at the negotiated rate and contact the HTCTU if you are quoted at a different amount. For more information please review our hotel rates.
